My biggest challenge as a coach is
Players' low ball skill standards
How to organize and run a fun practice
Motivating the players
Season Strategy
In game management
Assistant coaches' skills and teamwork
Trying to keep all the parents happy
I'm in at the deep end, and need credibility, fast
Player discipline and behavior on and off field

I'm interested in learning more about
Basic skills and fundamentals
Fun drills
Pitching skills and drills
Catching skills and drills
First base skills and drills
Infield skills and drills
Outfield skills and drills
Softball specific pitching skills
Improving player strength, speed, agility, and health
Player mindset, the 'mental' side of the game
Dealing with parents - Communication skills that let you get on with your job while making them feel heard
Dealing with players - Leading them to unity and success
Dealing with other coaches - Leading the Leaders
My coaching style can best be described as ...
Serious - it keeps them focussed, and they're rewarded by their results
Fun - It's a game, right? If they're not enjoying themselves, what's the point?
Conservative - I grew up in the 'school of hard knocks'. You earn playing time, and consistency is the route to success
Even handed - Players should understand the lessons of the game but I want to turn any negatives into learning experiences.
Inclusive. I like to reward participation, and for some of these kids it's all they've got.
Varies by player age or skill, everyone's an individual with their own needs - I see them, and I hear them, and I apply what's needed in the best way for each player

I became a coach because ...
I love coaching!
I want to spend more time with my child.
My child's sports development should be done properly
Nobody else volunteered
The previous coach was hopeless, and they asked me to step up
These kids have got great potential in life, with the right guidance
My favorite baseball song is ...
Glory Days - The Boss
Enter Sandman - Metallica
Centerfield - John Fogerty
Wild Thing - Ricky Vaughn
The Greatest - Kenny Rogers
Tessie - Dropkick Murphys
